Hello, We are Save the Polls!

We are bringing awareness surrounding voter suppression in Virginia.

What is Our Purpose?

Combat Voter Suppression

Our team is dedicated to monitoring attempts by the state and national government to change election laws, registration, and procedures that could prevent certain people from voting. As we continue to monitor these attempts, we will share what they are and explain what they could mean in our newsletter in order to educate voters in our community.

Spread Awareness to Voters

We strive to educate voters within our community by sharing factual, non-partisan information surrounding state legislation, local elections, and current political affairs that could disrupt voter registration and participation.

Advocate for Voters

We are committed to ensuring every eligible voter in Virginia has the information and access they need to cast their ballot. Additionally, as we continue throughout the year, we hope potential partnerships with other organizations could amplify our message in order to empower voters.

What are we trying to do?

Through public events, an informative website, and a strong social media presence, SAVE the Polls will work to make sure that every Virginian understands their rights and can exercise their vote with confidence. We strive to create political connections in order to acquire first-hand information related to voting, to later share with the people of our community.

Who are we associated with?

Our project is associated with the Carnegie Young Leaders Program of 2025, which supports young leaders tackling real-world challenges in their local communities. We receive support from the program through funding, mentoring, training, and access to a national network. We are among 100 other projects, each with five members, across 27 states that were accepted into the program, all striving to make change in their communities. The project will take us all the way up to June of 2026, after which we will reflect upon our work in the community and hopefully continue the project.

Our Long-Term Goals

Our Long-Term Goals

Our main long-term goal is to have witnessed a change in our local legislation regarding language barriers and necessary accommodations in the voting booths and registration. In the next upcoming couple of months, we aim to develop & distribute educational information through our websites’ newsletter and social media platforms to raise awareness surrounding voter’s rights. Later on in the years 2025/2026, we plan to hold assemblies and events featuring local leaders to encourage community engagement.
